Campground Overview
About North Rim Campground
Set against the backdrop of towering ponderosa pines and vibrant aspen trees at 8,200 feet, the North Rim Campground offers a serene and intimate camping experience on the quieter North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park. Known for its breathtaking scenery, well-spaced campsites, and proximity to remarkable canyon views, this campground defies the expectations of crowded, high-desert campgrounds by providing a tranquil alpine retreat with fewer crowds.
The campground features 90 campsites, including tent-only, RV, and group sites, with select premium sites offering stunning rim-side vistas of the Transept Canyon. Standard amenities include a picnic table, fire ring, drinking water, flush toilets, and access to coin-operated showers and laundry facilities. Firewood is conveniently available for purchase, and an RV dump station is located near the entrance. Trails like the Transept Trail and Bridle Path connect campers to the North Rim Visitor Center and trailheads, making this an ideal base for hiking enthusiasts. Generator use is limited, ensuring a quieter ambiance, and bear-proof storage boxes at sites reflect the region's wildlife presence.
Located less than a mile from the North Rim Visitor Center and Grand Canyon Lodge, this campground offers easy access to scenic lookout points like Point Imperial and Cape Royal, both within a brief drive. With a shorter season (mid-May to mid-October) due to high-altitude weather, the North Rim Campground is perfect for those seeking a peaceful getaway immersed in nature, away from the bustling South Rim.
