About Patagonia Lake State Park
Imagine a serene lakeside escape offering a mix of vibrant activity and tranquil seclusion—Patagonia Lake State Park Campground near Nogales, Arizona defies expectations of desert camping with its lush, water-centered setting. With over 100 developed RV and tent campsites and 12 boat-in-only sites, this campground sits along the southern shore of the 265-acre Patagonia Lake, known for its stunning views, birding opportunities, and ample water recreation.
The campground is divided into two main loops. The West Campground features proximity to the beach and marina but comes with higher activity levels and less privacy. The East Campground is quieter and closer to birding trails, though some sites vary in size and levelness. Campers will appreciate the full range of amenities, including electric hookups, clean restrooms, hot showers, picnic tables, fire rings, and even shade structures on select sites. For a unique experience, seven air-conditioned cabins with lake views are available, as well as a convenient lakeside market offering supplies, snacks, and even boat rentals. The park also boasts a roped-off swimming area, hiking trails connecting to Sonoita Creek State Natural Area, and ample opportunities for fishing and boating.
Located just 12 miles north of Nogales at 3,750 feet elevation, Patagonia Lake State Park serves as a convenient base for exploring the region’s natural and cultural attractions. From kayaking through hidden coves to hiking trails with spectacular vistas, this destination provides a vibrant yet family-friendly atmosphere perfect for weekend getaways or extended stays.
