About Pigeon Flat Campground

Pigeon Flat Campground stands out for its tranquil riverside setting along the Stanislaus River, offering a secluded and basic camping experience in the high country of Stanislaus National Forest. This walk-in-only campground features seven primitive sites equipped with picnic tables and fire rings, ensuring a rustic getaway free from vehicle traffic and modern distractions. Surrounded by towering trees, it invites campers seeking solitude, nature immersion, and activities like fishing or short hikes.

Situated 24 miles east of Pinecrest on Highway 108, Pigeon Flat is close to attractions such as the interpretive Column of the Giants trail and scenic Brightman Recreation Area. While there is no potable water or garbage service on-site, vault toilets are provided. Campers are encouraged to pack out their trash and bring water or purification methods for untreated river water. This campground is ideal for weekend getaways or stopovers focused on simplicity and connection to the natural beauty of the Sierra Nevada.
