Ponderosa Group Campground

Perched on a forested hillside above Highway 150, Ponderosa Group Campground stands apart with its captivating blend of seclusion, towering pines, and easy access to premier outdoor activities. Just off the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway, this campground provides a tranquil escape while positioning adventurers near some of the Uinta Mountain region’s most scenic trails, pristine lakes, and renowned trout fishing in the Lower Provo River.

The campground’s single group site accommodates up to 100 people and is thoughtfully equipped with large picnic tables, scattered smaller tables, and campfire circles. Though vault toilets are provided, guests must bring their own water and trash bags, and the rugged dirt road leading to the site may pose a challenge for larger vehicles. The campground’s intimate setting, shaded by tall pines and dotted with sagebrush and summer wildflowers, offers ample space for pitching tents and parking smaller RVs or trailers.

Located just 5.7 miles from Kamas, Utah, and nestled along the breathtaking Mirror Lake Scenic Byway, Ponderosa Group Campground offers access to a range of recreational opportunities within a short drive. Nearby trails like Yellow Pine, Shingle Creek, and North Fork beckon hikers, bikers, and horseback riders, while anglers can test their luck in the river below. Mirror Lake and the High Uintas Wilderness further expand exciting options for exploration.
