About Potlatch State Park
Framed by the calm waters of the Hood Canal and a dense canopy of towering pine trees, Potlatch State Park Campground combines serene coastal beauty with convenient, family-friendly amenities. This 57-acre campground features 38 standard campsites, 35 partial hookup sites for RVs, and two primitive hiker/biker sites set amidst a forested landscape, offering a variety of accommodations to suit different camping styles. While the sites are relatively close together, the campground maintains a relaxed atmosphere and provides access to clean bathrooms, showers, and fire pits.
Located just 12 miles north of Shelton and minutes from the nearby town of Hoodsport, the campground is ideally positioned for exploring the Hood Canal, renowned for its clamming and oyster harvesting during the season. The park’s 5,700 feet of saltwater shoreline provide ample opportunities for crabbing, fishing, kayaking, and even scuba diving. While hiking opportunities within the park are limited, the nearby Skokomish River and surrounding trails offer more outdoor adventures. The combination of convenient amenities, natural beauty, and recreational opportunities make Potlatch State Park ideal for families, weekend getaways, and nature enthusiasts seeking coastal exploration.
