About Quaking Aspen Campground
With towering quaking aspen trees that shimmer green in spring and burnish to gold in autumn, Quaking Aspen Campground offers a serene, high-elevation retreat in California's Sequoia National Forest. Located at 7,000 feet near the Giant Sequoia National Monument, this campground provides an ideal setting for campers seeking proximity to nature, scenic trails, and historical groves of sequoias.
Each of the 32 sites includes picnic tables, fire rings, and BBQ stoves, with potable water and vault toilets conveniently accessible. While the campground does not accommodate RV hookups, it hosts group camping areas and smaller sites suitable for tents or RVs up to 26 feet. Visitors are surrounded by vibrant aspen groves and have direct access to nearby hiking routes, such as the Summit Trail and Freeman Creek Trail, the latter leading to the famed President George Bush Sequoia Tree. For fishing enthusiasts, nearby creeks offer year-round angling opportunities.
Located approximately 27 miles east of Springville off Highway 190, Quaking Aspen Campground is a gateway to the wonders of the Golden Trout Wilderness and iconic landmarks like Dome Rock. Nearby, the Ponderosa Lodge, just two miles away, serves as a convenient spot for supplies, rounding out a quintessential mountain camping experience in this tranquil yet adventure-rich environment.
