About Quartz Lake State Recreation Area
A quiet retreat just 14 miles from Delta Junction, Quartz Lake State Recreation Area combines serene lakeside camping with some of the best fishing opportunities in Alaska's interior. Encompassing Quartz Lake and Lost Lake, this campground is ideal for outdoor enthusiasts seeking excellent trout and salmon fishing, wildlife viewing, or family-friendly activities like swimming and hiking.
The campground offers 16 wooded campsites in a loop, four of which are doubles, and an additional 87 sites in a large parking area near the lake. Each site is equipped with picnic tables and fire pits, while other amenities include clean restrooms, a sandy beach, a volleyball court, and two boat launches. For a more secluded experience, two rentable cabins are nestled along the lake’s edge. The well-maintained trails, including one leading to Little Lost Lake, provide great opportunities for wildlife spotting and scenic walks.
Located within a short drive of Delta Junction at Mile 277.8 along the Richardson Highway, Quartz Lake is easily accessible yet feels wonderfully remote. With activities ranging from ice fishing in winter to hiking and water skiing in summer, this recreation area promises a well-rounded Alaskan adventure.
