About Rainbow Falls State Park
What makes Rainbow Falls State Park Campground stand out is its tranquil riverside location, towering old-growth forest, and the presence of a beautiful namesake waterfall—all within easy reach of Chehalis, Washington. Whether you're seeking a serene nature retreat or looking to explore the region's lush landscapes, the campground offers an appealing blend of accessibility, natural beauty, and quality amenities.
The campground features 40 standard campsites, eight partial-hookup sites for RVs, and five primitive spots, including ones tailored for hikers, bikers, and equestrians. The sites are set among dense stands of Douglas fir, cedar, and hemlock, providing a mix of shade and privacy. Highlights include clean restrooms, token-operated showers, a group camp for up to 60 people, and a nearby field for recreation. A trail network meanders through the forest, offering easy hikes that showcase old-growth trees and serene riverside scenery. Visitors can also enjoy fishing, light swimming in the Chehalis River, and exploring the nearby Willapa Hills Trail, a 56-mile mixed-use path.
Located just 17 miles west of Chehalis, the park is a convenient destination for both quick getaways and extended stays. Its proximity to the Chehalis River, the cascading Rainbow Falls, and the surrounding old-growth forest ensures memorable outdoor experiences while staying comfortably close to a small-town hub.
