About Rattlesnake Campground

Imagine the soothing sound of river water and the scent of pine trees as Rattlesnake Campground unfolds along the banks of the Middle Fork Payette River in the Boise National Forest. This charming campground, located approximately 14 miles north of Crouch, Idaho, offers a mix of tranquility, natural beauty, and outdoor adventure opportunities.

Rattlesnake Campground features 11 sites beneath a canopy of Douglas fir and lodgepole pine trees, with several spots offering partial views of the flowing river. The facility includes vault toilets, drinking water, picnic tables, grills, and fire rings, accommodating both tent campers and RVs up to 35 feet in length. With options for single and group camping, it’s well-suited for both intimate escapes and larger gatherings. Trails for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and ATV use are accessible nearby, while the river promises excellent fishing for rainbow trout and whitefish. Wildlife sightings, including deer and elk, add to the natural allure.

Just a 30-minute drive from Rattlesnake Campground lies Lake Cascade State Park, where visitors can enjoy boating, swimming, and more fishing in one of Idaho’s largest lakes. The proximity to Garden Valley and Crouch also provides access to charming small-town amenities and a gateway to the broader Boise National Forest.
