Red Hills Lake Campground, located just 2.5 miles from Milam, Texas, offers a serene retreat in the scenic Sabine National Forest. Anchored by a picturesque 19-acre lake completed in 1940 by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), this campground combines tranquil natural beauty with convenient access to outdoor activities. The campground features a mix of tent and RV sites, including nine trailer spaces and eight with 30-amp electric hookups. Amenities include drinking water, 17 picnic tables equipped with fire rings, a sanitary dump station, vault toilets, and outdoor cold-water showers, all within a short walk of campsites. The lake allows non-motorized boats and those with electric motors, perfect for an afternoon of quiet exploration or angling for bass, catfish, and crappie. Open seasonally from spring through October, the area is ideal for weekend getaways or extended stays.
