Campground Overview
About Renegade Campground
Set amidst rolling sagebrush-covered hills, Renegade Campground offers an elevated, rustic camping experience with sweeping views of the pristine Strawberry Reservoir and its surrounding highlands. For those who value simplicity and outdoor adventure, its location and amenities make it an ideal choice, combining excellent access to boating and fishing with serene, open-air campsites.
Located 40 miles southeast of Heber City within the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest, this campground is perched at an elevation of 7,700 feet. Each campsite is equipped with picnic tables, fire rings, and grills, with flush toilets and drinking water provided. However, there are no hookups or shower facilities, reflecting its back-to-basics appeal, and the lack of trees means the sites are unshaded but open to the dramatic vistas of the reservoir.
Strawberry Reservoir, renowned for its stellar fishing opportunities, draws anglers in pursuit of rainbow trout, cutthroat trout, and kokanee salmon. Additionally, a nearby boat launch ramp and a fish-cleaning station enhance the experience for boating enthusiasts. The surrounding area offers 75 miles of trails within the Strawberry OHV Trail System, providing ample hiking and mountain biking opportunities. Just a quarter mile away, the Renegade Day Use Area offers beach access and a marina, perfect for water-based recreation or a relaxing day by the water.
