Campground Overview
About Rush Campground
Can you imagine a camping destination where history meets the tranquil allure of a pristine river? Rush Campground, located within the Buffalo National River area of Yellville, Arkansas, offers a distinctive blend of primitive camping and historical intrigue. This small, first-come, first-served campground features 12 tent-only sites set against the backdrop of the scenic Buffalo River, providing a captivating retreat for nature enthusiasts and history lovers alike.
The campground is intentionally minimalistic, emphasizing a connection to nature rather than modern amenities. Each site includes essentials like a picnic table, fire ring, and lantern hook. A vault toilet and seasonal potable water (available March 15 through November 14) cater to basic needs. Visitors are reminded to pack out their trash, as no collection services are provided. Beyond camping, Rush is steeped in history, with trails leading to the remnants of an old zinc mining town and interpretive plaques highlighting its past. Wildlife abounds, and the area is especially inviting for canoeing, kayaking, and fishing, as it serves as a key access point to the Buffalo River.
Located about 12 miles south of Yellville, Rush Campground is nestled in a serene corner of the Ozarks with easy access to hiking trails, scenic river views, and the Rush Historic District—home to the remains of a bygone mining community. Whether you're planning a peaceful weekend getaway, a floating trip down the river, or a step back in time through local trails, Rush Campground delivers a unique, unplugged experience.
