About Salt Creek Recreation Area
Salt Creek Recreation Area, perched on the rugged northern coast of Washington State, offers a unique blend of dramatic ocean vistas, diverse natural landscapes, and well-maintained camping amenities. Situated on a 196-acre park just 15 miles west of Port Angeles, this campground's striking bluffs, access to tide pooling at Tongue Point Marine Sanctuary, and views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca make it a standout choice for outdoor enthusiasts.
This year-round campground features 92 campsites, with a mix of RV and tent options. Many sites are perched on a bluff, providing stunning water views, while others are tucked within the coastal forest for a more secluded feel. The utility sites (located in the more open section) cater to RV campers with water and electric hookups, whereas the forested standard sites offer a more rustic experience. Essential features include coin-operated showers, restrooms, potable water, and picnic tables. Families will enjoy the on-site playground, while hikers can explore trails leading to WWII-era military bunkers and viewpoints along the rocky coast.
Located less than 30 minutes from Port Angeles, Salt Creek Recreation Area offers easy access to Crescent Bay Beach and the Olympic Discovery Trail, combining coastal serenity with convenient access to local attractions. Whether you're planning a weekend getaway or an extended camp, this destination provides a compelling mix of natural beauty and thoughtful amenities for all types of adventurers.
