About Savannas Recreation Area
What sets the Savannas Recreation Area campground apart from typical campgrounds is its unique blend of tranquil wetlands, abundant wildlife, and an expansive range of outdoor activities within close proximity to urban conveniences. Located just minutes from Fort Pierce, Florida, this 550-acre wilderness area offers a serene environment where campers can discover diverse ecosystems, including marshlands, pine flatwoods, and wet prairies.
The campground provides a variety of site options, including full-hookup RV sites, tent-only areas, and primitive group campsites. Each site includes a fire ring and picnic table, while the grounds feature clean hot showers, laundry facilities, and a dog park. Nature enthusiasts will enjoy hiking and biking trails, as well as opportunities for canoeing, kayaking, birdwatching, and fishing in the wetlands. On-site canoe and kayak rentals add convenience for exploring the waterways. For added privacy or group gatherings, the Palm Island Pavilion offers picnic facilities, restrooms, and a kitchenette.
Situated just 15 minutes from the beaches and downtown Fort Pierce, the campground is also a short drive from the Savannas Preserve State Park, which features over 17 miles of multi-use trails. This makes it ideal for both weekend getaways and extended stays, offering an immersive nature experience with access to cultural and recreational attractions nearby.
