Campground Overview
About Seawall Campground
Does a campground where ocean breezes mix with the scent of coastal pines and the distant crash of waves captivate your imagination? Seawall Campground, located on the "quiet side" of Mount Desert Island in Acadia National Park, offers a tranquil and immersive camping experience. Known for its wooded environment and proximity to the rocky Maine coastline, this campground effortlessly combines natural beauty, accessibility to outdoor adventures, and a sense of serene remoteness.
Set within 120 acres of historic parkland, Seawall Campground includes 214 campsites split across four loops, with options for drive-up RVs, trailers, tent camping, and walk-in sites. Each site is equipped with fire rings, picnic tables, and access to flush restrooms with potable water, though showers and additional camping supplies are conveniently located just a mile away. Loop A and Loop B provide enhanced privacy due to tree cover, while Loops C and D accommodate those seeking easy access to tent-only sections or walk-in areas. The lack of utility hookups fosters a rustic experience, but the campground's proximity to attractions compensates—trails, Echo Lake, and the mesmerizing Seawall picnic area are all within walking or short driving distance.
The campground lies just four miles south of Southwest Harbor, a picturesque town perfect for dining, supplies, or a touch of local charm. A free shuttle stop at the campground connects visitors to Acadia's celebrated trails and sights, including Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse and other highlights within 30 minutes. Whether you prefer kayaking on nearby Echo Lake, hiking coastal trails, or simply stargazing by the fire, Seawall Campground is an ideal base for both weekend getaways and extended stays in Acadia National Park.
