About Selkirk Campground
Perched at an impressive 10,500 feet above sea level in Pike National Forest, Selkirk Campground defies expectations with its tranquil remoteness, rugged natural beauty, and access to exceptional outdoor adventures. Located just eight miles from the small historic town of Como and about a 30-minute drive from Breckenridge, this first-come, first-served destination offers campers a true backcountry escape without venturing too far from civilization.
The campground consists of 15 campsites, each outfitted with a picnic table, fire ring, and parking spur, accommodating smaller trailers up to 25 feet. Facilities include well-maintained vault toilets and access to drinking water, but visitors should plan for a pack-in, pack-out experience, as trash services are unavailable. The serene atmosphere is complemented by proximity to excellent hiking opportunities along Boreas Pass and the fishing-friendly Tarryall Creek, known for its brook and rainbow trout.
Selkirk Campground is an ideal choice for campers seeking a peaceful, no-frills retreat in an unforgettable alpine setting. Whether used as a base for day trips into Breckenridge or surrounding wilderness areas, or as a destination for unwinding among Colorado's mountains, it promises an authentic connection to nature.
