About Shady Cove Group Campground
Shady Cove Group Campground, located along the northern shore of Big Bear Lake in the San Bernardino National Forest, offers a serene retreat for group camping amidst towering trees and a cool mountain climate. Its prime location at an elevation of 6,000 feet provides access to diverse outdoor activities like hiking, biking, and fishing while offering comfortable group facilities suitable for gatherings of up to 30 people.
The campground features three group sites equipped with picnic tables, pedestal grills, large campfire circles, and accessible vault toilets. Drinking water is available on-site, and the spacious tent pads provide plenty of room for group setups. The surrounding landscape offers natural beauty and privacy, with nearby trails like the interpretive Trail of the Phoenix, which starts just a few miles away. Additionally, the proximity to Big Bear Lake makes this a gateway to water-based recreation, such as boating and fishing, with seasonal trout stocking in Arrowbear Lake nearby.
Located approximately three miles from the Children's Forest Visitor Center and about five miles from the charming town of Running Springs, the campground offers convenience paired with natural immersion. Visitors are encouraged to explore the local trails, enjoy panoramic views from the Keller Peak Fire Lookout, or partake in the dining and shopping opportunities in Running Springs.
