About Sheep Pass Group Campground
Sheep Pass Campground, located at 4,500 feet in Joshua Tree National Park, offers an unparalleled group camping experience framed by iconic Joshua trees and dramatic rock formations. This secluded, tent-only campground boasts six group sites, designed for 10 to 60 people, making it an ideal base for group outings or nature-focused retreats.
The campsites provide picnic tables, fire rings, and grills, with access to clean vault toilets, but there is no potable water or RV accommodations. Its central location within the park places campers within minutes of renowned hiking trails such as Ryan Mountain and Hidden Valley, as well as world-class rock climbing routes. After dark, the minimal light pollution reveals a spectacular canopy of stars, perfect for stargazing.
Situated roughly 20 minutes from the town of Twentynine Palms, Sheep Pass is well-situated for access to amenities and nearby attractions like the Sky's The Limit Observatory and Nature Center. This campground offers an immersive desert experience, capturing the rugged beauty and serenity of Joshua Tree’s unique landscape.
