Campground Overview

About Sol Duc Hot Springs Resort Campground

Sol Duc Resort Campground sits in a moss-draped, old-growth forest with rustic camp loops offering modest spacing, direct access to hot-spring pools and hiking, and a spot along the river.

The campground rests under a dense forest canopy on the banks of the Sol Duc River, with mixed privacy—sites are fairly close, especially in the RV section, which features gravel lots with limited buffers, and back-in gravel tent areas with picnic tables, fire rings, and food lockers. Trails to Sol Duc Falls and Lover’s Lane begin right from the loops. The RV area is roughly a quarter-mile from the lodge and close to the pools and deli.

Campers can soak in three mineral hot spring pools ranging from about 98°F to 104°F, along with a large freshwater swimming pool. Access requires a paid session reserved at the resort’s front desk, and towels are available for rent.

Multiple trails start right from the property, including the one-mile walk to Sol Duc Falls, the six-mile Lover’s Lane loop, and longer hikes to Mink and Deer Lakes or the High Divide/Seven Lakes Basin. The Salmon Cascades overlook, where coho salmon leap upstream in the fall, is just a short drive down Sol Duc Road.

About 40 minutes west of Port Angeles via Highway 101 and Sol Duc Road, this campground delivers a back-country feel with the bonus of hot-spring soaking, a swimming pool, deli, and direct trail access. Reservations are strongly recommended in summer, as the campground fills quickly. In winter, the campground operates in a primitive state with pit toilets and no water, and Sol Duc Road may close once snow arrives.
