About South Shore Group Sites
Imagine a serene lakeside retreat where juniper trees, sagebrush, and the rugged charm of Oregon's high desert converge to create an intimate, natural escape. The South Shore Group Sites at Haystack Reservoir in Culver, Oregon, offer privacy, picturesque views of the Cascade Mountains, and a tranquil atmosphere ideal for reconnecting with nature.
This campground features three primitive group sites—Willow, Juniper, and Cottonwood—each accommodating up to 50 people and well-separated for privacy. Each site includes picnic tables, fire rings, and gravel roads, with vault toilets on location. While the sites are primitive, water is conveniently available just half a mile away at the West Shore Campground. Located near the reservoir, campers can enjoy boating, fishing, or simply taking in the spectacular mountain views. Additionally, the surrounding area provides access to premier attractions like Smith Rock State Park, known for world-class rock climbing, and Lake Billy Chinook, renowned for boating and hiking, all within a 30-minute drive.
Located just off Highway 97 and eight miles south of Madras, the South Shore Group Sites combine easy access with a sense of seclusion. This destination is ideal for group gatherings such as family reunions, weekend getaways, or outdoor events, providing a comfortable balance of natural beauty and recreational opportunities.
