Campground Overview
About Southwick Beach State Park
Soft sand underfoot, the rhythmic sound of Lake Ontario’s waves, and the backdrop of windswept dunes set Southwick Beach State Park apart as a uniquely serene camping destination on New York's eastern shoreline. This park is defined by its 3,500 feet of pristine sandy beach, ideal for swimming, picnicking, and relaxation, as well as its integration with the nearby Lakeview Wildlife Management Area, home to ecologically significant coastal sand dunes and wetlands.
The campground features 131 diverse sites accommodating tents and RVs, with some offering electric hookups. While sites closer to the beach provide convenient access to the water, they are exposed and sandy, adding a rugged, coastal charm but minimal privacy. Further inland, grassier loops backed by trees offer a quieter setting, though still without full seclusion. Modern amenities include restrooms with showers, a dump station, and picnic facilities, ensuring comfort amid natural surroundings. Visitors can enjoy hiking along nature trails, wildlife observation, and the added benefit of a dog-friendly beach area.
Located just outside the town of Henderson, Southwick Beach sits within a half-hour drive of additional attractions like the Lake Ontario shoreline and its scenic vistas. Whether it's a day trip, a weekend escape, or an extended vacation, this campground provides a peaceful retreat with direct connections to the lakefront’s beauty and ecological significance.
