Campground Overview
About Starved Rock State Park
With its sprawling 133-site campground, Starved Rock State Park offers a perfect blend of accessibility and immersion into Illinois’ most dramatic natural landscapes. Located just off Route 71 in Oglesby, Illinois, the campground is a gateway to 13 miles of hiking trails, towering sandstone bluffs, and 18 picturesque canyons, many featuring seasonal waterfalls and ice sculptures in winter.
Campers can expect a variety of electric sites, well-suited for RVs and tents alike, each outfitted with a fire pit, picnic table, and nearby water spigots. While the campground lacks water hookups at individual sites, flush toilets, shower houses, and a dump station are provided. The park’s Visitor Center is conveniently nearby and offers information, programs, and exhibits. A playground serves younger visitors, and firewood is available for purchase on-site.
Starved Rock’s campground is ideally placed for outdoor adventurers. A short drive connects campers to breathtaking attractions like Matthiessen State Park's rock formations and trails or kayaking along the Illinois River. Whether you’re planning a weekend escape or an extended stay, this campground provides both comfort and proximity to Illinois’ most iconic natural wonders.
