Campground Overview
About State Line Campground
Perched at an elevation of 2,593 feet along the serene Tellico River on the Tennessee-North Carolina border, State Line Campground offers a truly rustic retreat for campers seeking solitude, natural beauty, and an authentic backcountry experience. This small, primitive campground features seven sites, each equipped with two picnic tables, two lantern posts, and a fire ring, ensuring a simple yet functional setup for those embracing off-grid camping.
Located within the Cherokee National Forest, this remote destination is best suited for tents and small RVs up to 26 feet and requires careful preparation as there are no modern amenities like potable water or electric hookups. Access is via unpaved forest service roads, sometimes requiring high-clearance or four-wheel-drive vehicles, depending on conditions. Surrounded by lush mountain scenery, the campground provides easy access to hiking trails and exceptional fishing opportunities in the Tellico River.
Just 17 miles from Tellico Plains, the area is close to attractions like the scenic Cherohala Skyway, the towering Bald River Falls, and the Benton MacKaye Trail, all within a 30-minute drive. State Line Campground is ideal for seasoned adventurers seeking tranquility, spectacular wilderness views, and proximity to some of East Tennessee’s finest outdoor experiences.
