About Steuben Lake Campsites
Isolated from the bustle of modern life, the Steuben Lake Campsites in Michigan's Hiawatha National Forest offer a quintessential back-to-nature escape defined by tranquil lakefront views, primitive charm, and proximity to diverse outdoor activities. With just two spacious campsites tucked within a forested setting along the shores of the 151-acre Steuben Lake, this campground is ideal for campers seeking solitude, fishing opportunities, and rustic simplicity.
Both campsites are primitive, featuring fire rings and picnic tables but lacking in drinking water or electric hookups. A notable feature is the excellent fishing on Steuben Lake, stocked with walleye and home to northern pike, largemouth bass, bluegill, and perch. Campers will also find good swimming areas at both sites, though the beach at Site 2 requires descending a hill. Boat access, located in the lake's northwest corner, accommodates most fishing boats and trailers. Nearby, visitors can enjoy hiking and nature exploration amidst the forest's rich wildlife.
The campground is located approximately 27 miles from Manistique, Michigan, making it accessible yet remote enough to provide a serene retreat. Essential supplies, including groceries, gasoline, and fishing licenses, are available just two miles away in the small town of Steuben. This destination is perfect for weekend getaways or extended stays for those looking to immerse in Upper Peninsula's pristine natural beauty.
