Campground Overview
About Stony Brook State Campground
Isolated within the rolling hills of Western New York, Stony Brook State Park’s campground stands out for its tranquil woodland environment, proximity to a dramatic gorge with three waterfalls, and the rustic appeal of its camping facilities. The combination of non-electric campsites, secluded rustic cabins, and direct access to the park’s scenic trails ensures a nature-centered retreat with minimal modern distractions.
The campground features 88 traditional campsites and eight rustic cabins, all located in the South Entrance of the park, upstream from the waterfalls. Each site includes a fire ring, picnic table, and nearby access to comfort stations equipped with flush toilets and hot showers. While the sites lack electric and water hookups, their positioning amidst hilly woodlands provides a peaceful setting perfect for tents, small trailers, or RVs. The South Entrance also serves as a gateway to the park’s three hiking trails, including the picturesque Gorge Trail that winds past waterfalls and fascinating rock formations.
Located just south of Dansville, New York, and within a 30-minute drive of the Finger Lakes region, the park provides additional attractions like a natural stream-fed swimming pool, playgrounds, and recreational fields for tennis, basketball, and more. Whether you’re planning a short stopover or an extended getaway, Stony Brook State Park camping offers an immersive experience that connects you with the rugged beauty of Western New York’s landscapes.
