Campground Overview
About Sunnyside Campground
Set against the serene backdrop of Oregon’s Willamette National Forest, Sunnyside Campground offers an intimate camping experience with its shaded sites nestled beside Cougar Reservoir. Ideal for tent campers, this small yet scenic campground is characterized by its tranquil setting amidst towering conifers and its proximity to pristine waterways, making it a haven for nature lovers and outdoor adventurers.
The campground features 13 campsites equipped with picnic tables, fire rings, and grills, alongside essential amenities such as vault toilets and trash collection. However, drinking water is not available on-site, with the nearest source located at the nearby Slide Creek Campground. While the steep entrance limits access for RVs or motorhomes, the area’s outstanding hiking and biking trails, including routes in the Cougar Recreation Area and near the picturesque Terwilliger Hot Springs, make it an excellent base for exploring the surrounding wilderness.
Located just 13.5 miles from the town of Blue River, Sunnyside Campground places visitors within easy reach of attractions such as the McKenzie River Trail and Sahalie Falls, both renowned for their exceptional natural beauty. Whether you’re seeking solitude, wildlife viewing, or outdoor recreation, Sunnyside Campground offers a rewarding escape into Oregon’s lush landscapes.
