Campground Overview
About The Crags Campground
The Crags Campground offers a rugged alpine escape with panoramic mountain vistas, pristine wilderness, and unparalleled solitude at nearly 10,000 feet elevation in Colorado's State Forest State Park.
Perched high in the Medicine Bow Mountains, this intimate 17-site campground provides a true backcountry experience. The narrow, winding access road limits RV size, ensuring a quiet atmosphere dominated by tent campers and small trailers. Sites are well-spaced among towering pines, offering privacy and immersion in the surrounding forest.
Located 14 miles southeast of Walden, The Crags serves as an ideal basecamp for exploring State Forest State Park's vast wilderness. The park is renowned for its extensive moose population, with frequent sightings possible right from camp. Hiking opportunities abound, with trailheads for the popular Crags Trail and Devil's Playground Trail located just a short walk from the campground. For fishing enthusiasts, Robinson Creek flows nearby, offering chances to land rainbow trout in a secluded setting.
