Campground Overview

About Thief Valley Reservoir

Thief Valley Reservoir Campground offers a rugged, no-frills camping experience in the heart of Eastern Oregon's cattle country. This primitive campground provides direct access to excellent fishing and boating opportunities on the 740-acre reservoir, surrounded by sagebrush-covered hills that create a scenic backdrop for outdoor enthusiasts.

The campground features 10 basic sites suitable for tents or small RVs, each equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. Vault toilets are available, but there are no showers or hookups. A boat ramp allows easy water access for anglers targeting rainbow trout or those looking to explore the reservoir by kayak or canoe.

Located 16 miles north of Baker City, Thief Valley Reservoir Campground serves as an ideal base for exploring the rugged beauty of Eastern Oregon. The area's wide-open spaces and stark landscapes offer a sense of solitude and connection to nature that draws visitors seeking to escape more crowded destinations. While amenities are limited, the campground's simplicity and proximity to prime fishing spots make it a popular choice for weekend getaways and day trips focused on outdoor recreation.
