About Tie Flume Campground
Can you imagine a campsite where trout-filled streams meet a peaceful forest setting at 8,400 feet? Tie Flume Campground in Wyoming’s Bighorn National Forest offers just that, combining prime fishing along the South Tongue River with the serene backdrop of lodgepole pines and mountain meadows. Accessible yet tranquil, this campground invites guests to unwind amidst striking natural beauty while enjoying a range of outdoor activities.
Located about 1.5 miles off the Bighorn Scenic Byway (U.S. Highway 14) and 40 minutes from Dayton, the campground is ideally situated for recreational opportunities such as hiking, fishing, mountain biking, and off-road vehicle use. The 27 sites accommodate tents, trailers, and RVs, each equipped with a picnic table, fire ring, and lantern post. Amenities include potable water, vault toilets, and accessible features, but no RV hookups are available. Historical remnants of old tie flumes and splash dams add a unique charm to this forested haven.
Within 30 minutes, you’ll find attractions like the Shell Falls Visitor Center, which features picturesque trails, or Sibley Lake for non-motorized boating and trout fishing. Nearby lodges offer dining, supplies, and guided adventures to complement the rustic camping experience. Tie Flume Campground is perfect for a weekend retreat, nature getaway, or extended summer escape immersed in Wyoming's rugged wilderness.
