Campground Overview
About Tom Miner Campground
Isolated within a scenic valley in the Gallatin Mountains, Tom Miner Campground offers 16 primitive campsites surrounded by thick stands of pine and aspen alongside a tranquil creek. This no-reservation, first-come, first-served site is a haven for nature enthusiasts, offering access to the nearby Gallatin Petrified Forest Trail, abundant wildlife, and numerous hiking and horseback trails directly from the campground.
The campground provides essential amenities such as vault toilets, drinking water, picnic tables, fire rings, and bear-proof food storage lockers. However, it lacks trash service and firewood, so visitors should plan accordingly. Horse enthusiasts will appreciate the adjacent corral and trails catering to horseback riding.
Located approximately 28 miles from Gardiner, Montana, and less than 30 minutes from Yellowstone National Park’s northern entrance, this campground is an excellent base for exploring both the park and the Yellowstone River. Its springtime wildflowers and the unique petrified forest make it a memorable destination for campers seeking solitude, natural beauty, and outdoor adventure.
