Transfer Campground, located 11 miles north of Mancos, Colorado, defies the ordinary, offering nature enthusiasts and outdoor adventurers an ideal base for exploration in the San Juan National Forest.
Set at 8,500 feet in elevation, this campground features 12 first-come, first-served campsites and a reservable group site, each surrounded by lush aspens that enhance privacy and provide a peaceful ambiance. While the sites are modest in size, they can accommodate smaller RVs, and amenities include vault toilets, picnic tables, fire grates, and potable water, ensuring a comfortable camping experience. Unique to this campground, equestrian campers will find five designated horse sites with adjacent corrals just across Forest Road 561, creating a hub for horseback riders exploring nearby trails.

Just half a mile away, the Aspen Loop Trail provides a 39-mile motorized route through scenic forest areas.
