Campground Overview
About Warner Creek Campground
Perched at an elevation of 5,600 feet in the serene southeastern corner of Lassen Volcanic National Park, Warner Valley Campground offers a tranquil escape with a backdrop of geothermal wonders and lush forest landscapes. This small, primitive campground features 17 sites, complete with picnic tables, fire rings, and bear-proof storage boxes, ensuring a simple yet practical camping experience. Vault toilets are available, but there is no potable water on-site, so campers should come prepared.
Warner Valley Campground is a gateway to some of the park's most unique geothermal features, including the nearby Devil’s Kitchen and Boiling Springs Lake trails, which showcase bubbling mud pots, steam vents, and other volcanic phenomena. The Pacific Crest Trail also runs directly through the campground, making it an excellent base camp for hikers. Located just 17 miles north of Chester, the campground is accessible via a gravel road, though trailers are not recommended due to the rugged terrain. For a refreshing break, the historic Drakesbad Guest Ranch is a short half-mile walk away, offering thermal pools and dining options.
Ideal for those seeking quiet retreat or exploration-based trips, Warner Valley combines rustic charm with proximity to Lassen Volcanic National Park's fascinating natural features, creating a memorable outdoor experience.
