About Windfall Lake Cabin
With its front deck overlooking Windfall Lake’s serene waters and its backdrop of towering mountains and dense evergreen forest, Windfall Lake Cabin merges rustic comfort with unspoiled natural beauty. Accessible only by a moderate hike, floatplane, or winter snow trek, this 14x16-foot pan-abode style cabin is a year-round haven for outdoor adventurers, offering tranquility, a connection to nature, and diverse recreational opportunities.
Located 26.6 miles north of Juneau in the Tongass National Forest, the cabin is a base for hiking, canoeing, cross-country skiing, and fishing. Visitors can explore Windfall Lake Trail's lush spruce and hemlock forest, fish for salmon and trout, or observe wildlife like bears, waterfowl, and beavers. The cabin, which sleeps six, includes basic essentials like a propane furnace, wood stove, and an elevated boardwalk connecting to a vault toilet, but guests must come prepared with their own supplies and leave no trace.
Whether arriving by trail or floatplane, the Windfall Lake Cabin offers a quintessential Alaskan escape, blending seclusion, adventure, and scenery within a short journey from Juneau.
