Campground Overview
About Wishon Campground
Wishon Campground, straddling two forks of the Tule River, offers a serene escape where the sound of rushing water mingles with the rustling of pines at 4,000 feet elevation.
This year-round Sequoia National Forest gem provides a quintessential Sierra Nevada camping experience. Sites are thoughtfully arranged to maximize privacy, with some offering coveted river views. The campground's layout, split between a front entrance section, main loop, and doubles spur, caters to various camping preferences.
Located 12 miles east of Springville, Wishon Campground serves as an ideal base for exploring the southern Sierra Nevada. The area boasts six small remnant giant sequoia groves, including the nearby Wishon Grove, offering a less crowded alternative to more famous sequoia destinations. Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate the easy access to the Doyle Springs Trail, leading to Mt. Home State Forest, and the self-guided nature trail within the campground.
The campground's proximity to the Tule River provides excellent opportunities for fishing and wading. However, visitors should exercise caution due to swift currents and slippery rocks. For those seeking a deeper wilderness experience, the Golden Trout Wilderness lies just beyond, promising rugged backcountry adventures for day trips or extended excursions.
