However, there are no hookups or dump stations, making it more suited for self-contained camping. Its proximity to the pristine Wrights Lake allows activities like kayaking, paddleboarding, and swimming, though its cool waters are best enjoyed on warm summer days. Hikers can explore scenic trails, including routes into the Desolation Wilderness, perfect for both day trips and longer excursions with required permits.

Located about 23 miles east of Placerville and only a short drive from the small town of Kyburz, the campground connects visitors with lush forests and vibrant meadows dotted with wildflowers in summer.
