Campground Overview
About Alto Pit OHV
How does a campground combine thrilling off-highway vehicle (OHV) adventures with the tranquility of a forested retreat? Alto Pit OHV Campground achieves this balance at the base of Prescott's imposing Granite Mountain. With its rugged terrain, 20 miles of OHV trails for all skill levels, and surrounding ponderosa pine and oak woodlands, this year-round destination is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts and adrenaline seekers alike.
The campground offers 10 single campsites and one double site, all equipped with picnic tables, fire pits, and gravel driveways, most of which are pull-through for RVs or trailers. While the facilities are basic—vault toilets and no RV hookups or potable water—campers can enjoy the convenience of a large ramada for group gatherings and easy access to the extensive OHV trail system, including designated children’s riding areas. The nearby Granite Basin Recreation Area, just a 15-minute drive away, complements the Alto Pit experience with hiking trails, bird-watching opportunities, and the serene Granite Basin Lake.
Situated 5 miles northwest of Prescott, Arizona, Alto Pit places you within striking distance of the city’s historic charm and nearby natural attractions like Thumb Butte and Watson Lake. This makes it a versatile choice for weekend getaways, OHV-focused excursions, or an extended exploration blending rugged recreation with the rich culture of Prescott's surroundings.
