Campground Overview
About Arcadia Campground
With the scent of tall ponderosa pines mingling with Gambel oaks and Arizona walnuts, Arcadia Campground offers a tranquil respite amid the Pinaleño Mountains' diverse ecosystem. Located along the scenic Swift Trail (AZ 366) just 20 miles southwest of Safford, Arizona, this campground blends historic charm with natural beauty, as the area once served as a Civilian Conservation Corps site during the 1930s.
Arcadia Campground features 19 well-spaced sites, equipped with essentials like picnic tables, fire rings, and vault toilets. Seasonal drinking water is also available. Its forested setting, teeming with birdlife, makes it a favorite for birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts. A starting point for the Arcadia Trail #328, hikers can enjoy rewarding views while ascending toward higher elevations or exploring the alpine meadows of Mount Graham. Visitors should note the narrow, winding access road and prepare accordingly for trailers under 22 feet.
Within a 30-minute drive, attractions include the Mount Graham Wilderness Study Area, Riggs Flat Lake for trout fishing, and the Columbine Visitor Center. Whether for a weekend getaway or a peaceful day trip, Arcadia Campground offers a picturesque retreat into the biodiversity and natural charm of southeastern Arizona.
