About Beacon Rock State Park
What sets Beacon Rock State Park Campground apart is its rare combination of historic significance, geological marvels, and accessibility to world-class outdoor recreation. This sprawling 4,650-acre park, located within the iconic Columbia River Gorge, offers campers intimate forested sites, remarkable hiking trails, and striking views of the Columbia River's cliffs and waters.
The campground features 26 standard sites tucked among tall trees, creating a serene woodland atmosphere ideal for tent campers and smaller RVs. For those seeking added amenities, the nearby Woodard Creek Campground offers five full-hookup sites. Equestrian camping and primitive group camp options are also available. Amenities include showers, drinking water, and restroom facilities, while direct access to trails makes it a gateway to adventure. The park’s signature hike, the Beacon Rock Trail, is a 1.8-mile climb up an extinct volcanic core that rewards with panoramic views of the river gorge. Additional trails lead to cascading waterfalls such as Rodney and Hardy Falls, while boating enthusiasts can enjoy 9,500 feet of freshwater shoreline.
Located along State Route 14, just a short drive from Skamania and approximately 30 minutes east of Vancouver, Washington, the park is ideally positioned for easy access to the Columbia River Gorge’s bounty of natural and cultural attractions. This campground caters well to weekend getaways and day-trippers seeking the perfect blend of history, geology, and outdoor recreation.
