Bridgeport State Recreation Area in Bridgeport, Nebraska, combines the serenity of five picturesque sandpit lakes with convenient access to western Nebraska’s historic landmarks and natural beauty. This 326-acre park features 72 basic, first-come, first-served campsites, many offering waterfront views alongside shaded or grassy spots, providing a rustic camping experience with proximity to scenic lakes and open plains.
The park's centerpiece is Center Lake, ideal for swimming, power boating, and fishing, while the smaller lakes cater to non-motorized activities like kayaking and paddleboarding. Campers can enjoy amenities such as picnic tables, ground grills at each site, and group fire pits, with the added convenience of a dump and fill station near the entrance. Anglers will appreciate the variety of fish species stocked in the lakes, from rainbow and cutthroat trout to largemouth bass and walleye.
