About Campbell Creek Campground
Can you imagine a camping experience where the melodic sound of a creek intertwines with the tranquil stillness of mature forestland? Campbell Creek Campground, located in the Douglas Ranger District of the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest, offers an intimate, nature-focused escape elevated at 7,920 feet. Defined by its seclusion and natural beauty, this remote campground is ideal for those seeking a peaceful retreat among towering pine trees and abundant wildlife such as deer, elk, and owls.
This small campground features six sites—five single and one double—all widely spaced to provide a sense of privacy. Each site is equipped with picnic tables, fire rings, pedestal grills, vault toilets, trash bins, and potable water, ensuring comfort without sacrificing the rustic charm. Campbell Creek meanders directly through the campground, providing a continuous, soothing backdrop to your stay. Visitors can also enjoy easy access to scenic spots like the picturesque LaPrele Canyon, just a short distance along the approach road.
Situated about 33 miles southwest of Douglas, Wyoming, the campground is perfectly positioned for day trips into the rugged Laramie Mountains or along the LaPrele Creek crossings. Campbell Creek Campground offers an exceptional setting for weekend getaways, extended stays, or stopovers for explorers eager to reconnect with Wyoming’s untamed outdoors.
