About Chester State Park

Feel the crunch of pine needles beneath your feet and the whisper of a cool breeze as you enter Chester State Park Campground, a serene sanctuary in South Carolina’s Piedmont region that perfectly balances accessibility with tranquil natural beauty. This compact campground features 25 well-equipped sites with 50-amp electric and water hookups, accommodating both tents and RVs up to 33 feet long. The campground's thoughtful teardrop layout ensures easy access to its modern amenities, including clean restrooms with hot showers, a central comfort station, and well-placed picnic tables and fire rings.

Situated within the park's 523 acres, the campground offers close proximity to a picturesque 160-acre lake. Guests can enjoy fishing from the signature 470-foot pier, exploring the lake by kayak or paddleboat, or strolling along the 1.3-mile Caney Fork Creek Nature Trail that winds along the shoreline. For recreation, the park boasts an impressive 27-hole disc golf course, picnic shelters, and a large playground. Located just two miles west of Chester, this peaceful retreat also provides easy access to local dining and supplies, making it ideal for weekend escapes, relaxed family vacations, or quiet nature-focused getaways.
