Campground Overview
About China Meadows Campground
At 10,000 feet elevation, China Meadows Campground offers a high-altitude escape with pristine alpine scenery, excellent trout fishing, and access to the rugged High Uintas Wilderness. This small, primitive campground provides an intimate backcountry experience with just 9 well-spaced sites nestled among spruce and fir trees. The surrounding meadows burst with colorful wildflowers in summer, creating a picturesque backdrop for camping and hiking adventures.
Located in the northern Uinta Mountains of Utah, about 45 miles south of Evanston, Wyoming, China Meadows serves as an ideal basecamp for exploring the remote eastern Uintas. The campground sits near the trailhead for popular hikes into the High Uintas Wilderness, including routes to scenic alpine lakes and peaks. Anglers will appreciate easy access to productive fishing spots on the nearby Blacks Fork River and China Lake.
While amenities are basic, each site includes a picnic table, fire ring, and food storage locker. Vault toilets are available, but campers must bring their own water and pack out all trash. The campground's high elevation and pristine night skies make for chilly evenings and spectacular stargazing opportunities. With its secluded setting and proximity to wilderness, China Meadows appeals to outdoor enthusiasts seeking an authentic backcountry camping experience in one of Utah's most scenic mountain ranges.
