Campground Overview

About East Marsh Lake Campground

Perched above 9,000 feet in the rugged Uinta Mountains, East Marsh Lake Campground offers a pristine alpine escape with stunning lake views, excellent trout fishing, and serene forest surroundings.

The campground features well-maintained sites scattered among towering pines, many with direct views of the shimmering Marsh Lake. Clean vault toilets and drinking water spigots provide basic amenities, while the lack of hookups and limited cell service preserves the wilderness feel. A boat ramp and fishing docks make it easy to get out on the water, whether in a kayak or with a fishing rod.

Located about an hour south of Evanston, Wyoming, the campground sits in a picturesque section of the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. The area is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, with numerous hiking and off-road vehicle trails crisscrossing the surrounding mountains. China Meadows Trailhead, just a short drive away, serves as a gateway to the expansive High Uintas Wilderness.

This campground tends to attract those seeking a true mountain getaway, from weekend warriors escaping the city to extended-stay visitors exploring the Uintas' backcountry. The crisp mountain air, abundant wildlife, and night skies bursting with stars create an immersive natural experience. While the high elevation means chilly nights even in summer, it's a small price to pay for the spectacular alpine scenery and relative solitude found at East Marsh Lake.
