Campground Overview
About Chuchupate Campground
A haven for stargazers and outdoor enthusiasts, Chuchupate Campground in Los Padres National Forest offers a serene escape characterized by its high-elevation tranquility, sweeping mountain views, and undeveloped charm. Located just a short drive from Frazier Park, this secluded campground is set amidst pinyon pines, offering idyllic natural scenery and access to diverse recreation.
This intimate, seasonal campground features 29 sites suitable for tents and small RVs (up to 24 feet), each equipped with a fire ring, grill, picnic table, and parking spur. While basic amenities like vault toilets and trash collection are provided, there is no potable water or electricity, encouraging campers to embrace a self-sufficient experience. The narrow roads and angles within the campground make it better suited for compact setups. Activities abound nearby, including challenging hikes such as the Frazier Mountain Trail, off-road vehicle trails, and exceptional stargazing thanks to the area's dark sky designation.
Situated at an elevation of over 6,300 feet, Chuchupate Campground is three miles from the Chuchupate Ranger Station and less than 10 minutes from Frazier Park, where visitors can find dining options and other conveniences. It serves as an ideal base for day trips, weekend getaways, or extended stays, offering a peaceful retreat immersed in nature’s simplicity.
