Campground Overview
About Cooper Creek
Isolated within the serene expanse of the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest, Cooper Creek Campground offers a pristine escape defined by its tranquil creekside setting, excellent trout fishing, and access to lush forest trails. Unlike modern campgrounds with extensive amenities, this primitive site caters to those seeking a rustic, nature-focused experience with thoughtful spacing between campsites to enhance privacy and immersion.
This campground features 25 campsites, some ideally perched along the creek, and basic amenities such as picnic tables, fire rings, vault toilets, and seasonal drinking water (available April through October). While there are no electric hookups or showers, the area makes up for it with activities like hiking the Cooper Creek Trail, wildlife viewing, and outstanding trout fishing opportunities in both Cooper Creek and nearby Mulky Creek. Its remote location means no cell service but ensures a peaceful atmosphere amidst towering hardwoods and whispering waters.
Located about 20 minutes from Suches, Georgia, Cooper Creek lies in the Cooper Creek Wildlife Management Area, encompassing over 30,000 acres. It’s also within easy reach of Deep Hole Recreation Area (11 miles) and Morganton Point (13 miles), offering additional opportunities for exploration in the scenic North Georgia mountains.
