About D.A.R. State Park
What if your campground combined rich history, tranquil lakeside scenery, and generous amenities? D.A.R. State Park in Addison, Vermont, delivers all this with a unique setting on the shores of Lake Champlain, making it an ideal destination for those seeking relaxation, outdoor activities, and a touch of Vermont’s storied past.
The 95-acre park features 47 tent and RV campsites and 24 lean-tos nestled in a grassy area under mature hickory trees, providing a mix of sun, shade, and open space. Campers enjoy access to flush toilets, token-operated hot showers, a dump station, and a dishwashing station. For day-use visitors, the park includes a large picnic area overlooking the lake, a charming stone pavilion, horseshoe pits, and a volleyball net. Though steep lake bluffs limit direct water access, nearby areas on Lake Champlain offer excellent opportunities for swimming, boating, and fishing.
Conveniently located along Vermont Route 17, the park is only minutes from the historic Chimney Point State Historic Site. This region has been continuously inhabited for over 7,500 years, with visible remnants of early European homesteads near the park. Ideal for weekend getaways or peaceful extended stays, D.A.R. State Park is perfect for picnics, birdwatching, and connecting to Vermont's natural and historical richness.
