A peaceful retreat along Lake Tahoe’s western shore, the Ed Z'berg Sugar Pine Point State Park Campground combines rich history, stunning natural landscapes, and year-round outdoor adventure. Anchored by towering forests of cedar, aspen, and the park’s namesake sugar pines, the campground features 175 sites that cater to tent and RV campers alike, with one loop open year-round to accommodate winter enthusiasts.
Set within the sprawling 2,500-acre park, campers can enjoy miles of hiking and biking trails that meander through the pristine General Creek drainage, leading to mountain meadows, wildflower blooms, and historic landmarks like the 1860 General Phipps Cabin. Just minutes from the lake, the campground offers access to sandy beaches and the historic Hellman-Ehrman Mansion, a turn-of-the-century estate available for seasonal guided tours. Winter transforms the park into a Nordic wonderland with over 20 kilometers of marked cross-country ski trails.
