Located just 3 miles west of Red River on NM-38, Fawn Lakes Campground allows campers to enjoy the tranquility of the forest while remaining close to town services. The surrounding ponderosa pine forest creates a picturesque backdrop, with the Sangre de Cristo Mountains rising dramatically in the distance. Visitors can explore the nearby Columbine Trail or cast a line in the stocked ponds, immersing themselves in the natural splendor of northern New Mexico.
The campground caters to both tent and RV campers, with 15 standard sites and 3 tent-only spots. Each site comes equipped with a picnic table and fire ring, while vault toilets and drinking water are available on-site. The gentle sound of the Red River provides a soothing soundtrack for campers, though fishing in the river itself is not recommended.
