About Flat Rock Campground

Would you trade the noise of the highway for a front-row seat to pristine natural wonders? Located in the heart of Island Park, Idaho, Flat Rock Campground offers a mix of convenience and outdoor beauty, sitting adjacent to the famed Henry’s Fork of the Snake River amid towering lodgepole pines and grassy meadows. While the proximity to U.S. Highway 20 means some traffic sounds, the payoff is instant access to excellent fishing, scenic water adventures, and nearby Yellowstone National Park.

This well-maintained campground features 36 single and double sites with essentials like picnic tables, fire rings, vault toilets, and drinking water, with some sites offering electric hookups. A portion of the campground overlooks the river, setting the stage for activities like fly-fishing, tubing, canoeing, and kayaking. Less than five miles away, Big Springs provides a launching point for the serene Big Springs National Recreation Water Trail, popular for spotting moose and bald eagles. For land explorers, the area is crisscrossed by trails ideal for hiking, mountain biking, and ATVing.

Its prime location, just 22 miles from the west entrance of Yellowstone, also provides access to the breathtaking Mesa Falls Scenic Byway and Harriman State Park, both within a short drive. Whether you’re planning a fly-fishing weekend, a Yellowstone day trip, or an extended outdoor retreat, Flat Rock Campground strikes a balance between accessibility and rugged charm.
