About McCrea Bridge Campground

Isolated yet accessible, McCrea Bridge Campground offers a serene retreat along the backwaters of Island Park Reservoir in the Caribou-Targhee National Forest. This peaceful campground is ideal for those seeking a connection to nature, with opportunities for top-tier fishing, watersports, and wildlife viewing in an area renowned for its scenic splendor and biodiversity.

The campground features 16 individual sites suitable for tents, trailers, and RVs (up to 35 feet in length), each equipped with picnic tables, fire rings, and access to shared vault toilets and drinking water. Shaded by a mix of lodgepole pines and open to partial sun, the sites are accessible via gravel roads, with a boat ramp providing easy access to the reservoir's calm waters for fishing, kayaking, or canoeing. It is important to note that while the campground offers basic necessities, there are no hookups or electricity, ensuring a rustic and traditional camping experience.

Situated just two miles west of Highway 20 via the Elk Creek Service Station, McCrea Bridge Campground is conveniently located 12 miles from Mesa Falls Scenic Byway and 14 miles from Harriman State Park, which offers hiking trails and excellent fishing along the Henry’s Fork River. For those willing to venture a bit farther, Yellowstone National Park's west entrance is a 29-mile drive north, allowing for memorable day trips into one of America’s most iconic wilderness areas.
